<p rend="gatha1">Ito paraṃ pavakkhāmi, sabbagaṇavinicchayaṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Sotūnaṃ paṭubhāvatthaṃ, parame piṭakattaye.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Paccayādivibhāgehi, nayehi vividhehi taṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Sukhaggāhāya sotūnaṃ, suṇātha mama bhāsato.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tattha paṭhamo <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>gaṇo, dutiyo <hi rend="bold">rudhādi</hi>gaṇo, tatiyo <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>gaṇo, catuttho <hi rend="bold">svādi</hi>guṇo, pañcamo <hi rend="bold">kiyādi</hi>gaṇo, chaṭṭho <hi rend="bold">gahādi</hi>gaṇo, sattamo <hi rend="bold">tanādi</hi>gaṇo, aṭṭhamo <hi rend="bold">curādi</hi>gaṇo, imasmiṃ bhagavato pāvacane aṭṭhavidhā dhātugaṇā bhavanti. Etesu vikaraṇapaccayavasena –</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Bhūvādi</hi>to akāro ca, sānusāro <hi rend="bold">rudhādi</hi>to;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Akāro ce<hi rend="bold">vi</hi>vaṇṇo ca, <hi rend="bold">e</hi>kā<hi rend="bold">ro</hi>kārameva ca.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Ya</hi>paccayo <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>mhā, <hi rend="bold">ṇu ṇā uṇā suvādi</hi>to;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Kyādi</hi>to pana <hi rend="bold">nā</hi>yeva, <hi rend="bold">ppaṇhā</hi> pana <hi rend="bold">gahādi</hi>to.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Hiyyattanī sattamī ca, vattamānā ca pañcamī;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Catassetā pavuccanti, sabbadhātukanāmikā.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Etesu visayesveva, <hi rend="bold">a</hi>kāro suddhakattari;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Aññatra <hi rend="bold">kha cha sā</hi>dīhi, sahāpi cupalabbhati.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Bhavati hoti sambhoti, jeti jayati kīyati;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Ḍeti yāti iti eti, avati koti saṅkati.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Bhikkhati pivati pāti, vadeti vadati’’ iti;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Bhūvādi</hi>dhāturūpāni, bhavantīti pakāsaye.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Rūpaṃ ‘‘rundhati rundhīti, rundheti puna rundhiti;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Sumbhoti’’ccādīrūpāni, <hi rend="bold">rudhādī</hi>nti dīpaye.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Dibbati sibbati ceva, yujjati vijjati tathā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Ghāyati hāyati’’ccādi, rūpamāhu <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>naṃ.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Suṇoti ca suṇāti ca, vuṇoti ca vuṇāti ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Pāpuṇāti hinotī’’ti, ādirūpaṃ <hi rend="bold">suvādi</hi>naṃ.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Kināti ca jināti ca, dhunāti ca munāti ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Asnāti’’ccādirūpañca, <hi rend="bold">kyādīna</hi>nti vibhāvaye.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Tanoti ca karoti ca, kayirati sanoti ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Sakkota’ppoti pappoti’’-ccādirūpaṃ <hi rend="bold">tanādi</hi>naṃ.</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Manteti’’ccādikañcāpi, rūpamāhu <hi rend="bold">curādi</hi>naṃ.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Vikaraṇavasenevaṃ, rūpabhedo pakāsito;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Dhātūnaṃ dhātubhedādi-kusalassa matānugo.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Kiriyāya <pb ed="M" n="0.0353" /> dhāraṇato, dhātavo ekadhā matā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Dvidhāpi ca pavuccanti, sakammākammato pana.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Tattha <hi rend="bold">sakammakā</hi> nāma, <hi rend="bold">gamibhakkhā</hi>dayā siyuṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Ṭhāsā</hi>dayo <hi rend="bold">akammā</hi> ca, upasaggaṃ vinā vade;</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Sakammakakammabhūto, <hi rend="bold">divu</hi> iccādayo puna;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Gahetvāna tidhā honti, evañcāpi vibhāvaye.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Sakammake dvidhā bhitvā, ekakammadvikammato;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Akammakehi saddhiṃ te, tividhāpi bhavanti hi.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Akammakā <hi rend="bold">rutā</hi>yeva, ekakammā <hi rend="bold">gamā</hi>dayo;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Honti dvikammakā nāma, <hi rend="bold">duhikaravahā</hi>dayo.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Sakammākammakattamhi, dhātūnamupasaggato;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Niyamo natthi so tasmā, na mayā ettha vuccati.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Ekaṭṭhānā <hi rend="bold">gami</hi>ccādī, dviṭṭhānā <hi rend="bold">bhūpacā</hi>dayo;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Tiṭṭhānā <hi rend="bold">svā</hi>dayo evaṃ, ṭhānatopi tidhā matā.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Gupā</hi>dayo niyogena, ākhyātatte savuddhikā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Vaca turā</hi>dayo na hi, vuddhikā kāritaṃ vinā;</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Khi ji</hi> iccādayo dhātū, savuddhāvuddhikā matā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Iti vuddhivasenāpi, tividho dhātusaṅgaho.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Aluttavikaraṇā ca, luttavikaraṇā tathā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Luttāluttavikaraṇā, evampi tividhā siyuṃ.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Tatrāluttavikaraṇā, <hi rend="bold">gami rudhi divā</hi>dayo;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Pā bhā</hi>dayo <hi rend="bold">jini</hi>ccādī, kamato itare siyuṃ.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Suddhassarā ekassarā, tathānekassarāti ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Tidhā bhavanti <hi rend="bold">yuyātā-pābhālādī karā</hi>dayo.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Catudhādinayo cāpi, labbhamānavasena ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Gahetabbo nayaññūhi, yathāvuttānusārato.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Puna <pb ed="M" n="0.0354" /> suddhassarā dhātū, ekassarā ca sattadhā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Āivaṇṇauvaṇṇanta-eo</hi>ntavasā matā.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Avaṇṇivaṇṇuvaṇṇante</hi>-kārantānaṃ vasena ve;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Anekassaradhātū ca, sattadhāva pakittitā.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Evaṃ pannarasadhāpi, dhātūnamidha saṅgaho;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Tappabhedaṃ pakāseyyuṃ, <hi rend="bold">iu</hi>iccādinā vidū.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tatra <hi rend="bold">‘‘i</hi>gatiyaṃ, <hi rend="bold">i</hi> ajjhayane, <hi rend="bold">u</hi> sadde’’ iccete suddhassarā dhātavo. <hi rend="bold">Yā rā lā</hi> iccādayo ekassarā <hi rend="bold">ā</hi>kārantā. <hi rend="bold">Khijini</hi>iccādayo ekassarā <hi rend="bold">i</hi>kārantā. <hi rend="bold">Pī</hi>iccādayo ekassarā <hi rend="bold">ī</hi>kārantā. <hi rend="bold">Khu du ku</hi> iccādayo ekassarā <hi rend="bold">u</hi>kārantā, <hi rend="bold">bhū hū</hi> iccādayo ekassarā <hi rend="bold">ū</hi>kārantā. <hi rend="bold">Khe je se</hi> iccādayo ekassarā ekārantā. <hi rend="bold">So</hi> iccādayo ekassarā <hi rend="bold">o</hi>kārantā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Kara paca saṅgāma</hi> iccādayo anekassarā <hi rend="bold">a</hi>kārantā, <hi rend="bold">omā</hi>iccādayo anekassarā <hi rend="bold">ā</hi>kārantā, <hi rend="bold">saki</hi> iccādayo anekassarā <hi rend="bold">i</hi>kārantā. <hi rend="bold">Cakkhī</hi> iccādayo anekassarā <hi rend="bold">ī</hi>kārantā. <hi rend="bold">Andhu</hi>iccādayo anekassarā <hi rend="bold">u</hi>kārantā. <hi rend="bold">Kakkhū</hi> iccādayo anekassarā <hi rend="bold">ū</hi>kārantā. <hi rend="bold">Gile mile</hi> iccādayo anekassarā <hi rend="bold">e</hi>kārantāti evaṃ <hi rend="bold">pannarasavidhena</hi> dhātusaṅgaho.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Atha tettiṃsavidhenapi dhātusaṅgaho bhavati. Kathaṃ?</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Dhātū <hi rend="bold">suddhassarā</hi> ceva, puna <hi rend="bold">cekassarāpi</hi> ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Ka</hi>kārantā <hi rend="bold">kha</hi>kārantā, <hi rend="bold">gantā gha</hi>ntā ca dhātavo.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Ca</hi>kārantā chakārantā, <hi rend="bold">ja</hi>ntā <hi rend="bold">jha</hi>ntā ca <hi rend="bold">ña</hi>ntakā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Ṭa</hi>kārantā <hi rend="bold">ṭha</hi>kārantā, ḍantā ḍhantā ca <hi rend="bold">ṇa</hi>ntakā.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Ta</hi>ntā ceva tathā <hi rend="bold">tha</hi>ntā, <hi rend="bold">da</hi>ntā <hi rend="bold">dha</hi>ntā ca <hi rend="bold">na</hi>ntakā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Pa</hi>ntā <hi rend="bold">pha</hi>ntā <hi rend="bold">ba</hi>kārantā, <hi rend="bold">bha</hi>ntā <hi rend="bold">ma</hi>ntā ca <hi rend="bold">ya</hi>ntakā.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Ra</hi>ntā <pb ed="M" n="0.0355" /><hi rend="bold">la</hi>ntā <hi rend="bold">va</hi>kārantā, <hi rend="bold">sa</hi>ntā <hi rend="bold">ha</hi>ntā ca <hi rend="bold">ḷa</hi>ntakā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Iti <hi rend="bold">tettiṃsadhā</hi> ñeyyo, dhātūnamidha saṅgaho.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Mate satthussa <hi rend="bold">ḍhaṇaḷā,</hi> padādimhi na dissare;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Tenekassaradhātūsu, <hi rend="bold">ḍhaṇaḷā</hi> na kathīyare.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">I</hi>kāranta<hi rend="bold">ti</hi>kāranta-vasena tu yathārahaṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Nāmaṃ sambhoti dhātūnaṃ, <hi rend="bold">iti</hi>ppaccayayogato.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Pacibhikkhichidikhādi, karoti bhavati gami</hi>;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Gatigacchatihotī</hi>ti, ādivohāramuddhare.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Evaṃ tettiṃsabhedehi gahitesu nikhilesu dhātūsu –</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Sahahiṃsaīha</hi>vasā, <hi rend="bold">sīha</hi>saddagatiṃ vade;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Sahanato hananato, sīhoti hi garū vaduṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā hi sīho vātātapādiparissayampi sahati, ‘‘kiṃ me bahūhi ghāṭitehī’’ti attano gocaratthāya khuddake pāṇe agaṇhanto, ‘‘māhaṃ khuddake pāṇe visamagate saṅghātaṃ āpādesī’’ti anuddayavasena sahitabbe khuddakasattepi sahati. Hiṃsitabbe pana kāyūpapanne sūkaramahiṃsādayo satte hiṃsati, tasmāpi ‘‘sīho’’ti vuccati. Yathā pana kantanaṭṭhena ādiantavipallāsato takkaṃ vuccati, evaṃ hiṃsanaṭṭhenapi sīhoti veditabbo. Atha vā sabbiriyāpathesu daḷhavīriyattā suṭṭhu īhatīti <hi rend="bold">sīho</hi>. Vuttañhi –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Yathā sīho migarājā, nisajjaṭṭhānacaṅkame;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Alīnavīriyo hoti, paggahitamano sadā’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Aparo nayo –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Sahanā ca hiṃsanā ca, tathā sīghajavattato;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Sīho iccapi bhāseyya, sakyasīhassa sāsane.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Vuttañhi <pb ed="M" n="0.0356" /><hi rend="bold">suttanipātaṭṭhakathāyaṃ</hi> ‘‘saharā ca hananā ca sīghajavattā ca sīho’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Idāni tadatthuddhāro vuccate, <hi rend="bold">sīha</hi>saddo ‘‘sīho bhikkhave migarājā’’tiādīsu migarāje āgato. ‘‘Atha kho sīho senāpati yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamī’’tiādīsu paññattiyaṃ. ‘‘Sīhoti kho bhikkhave tathāgatassetaṃ adhivacanaṃ arahato sammāsambuddhassā’’tiādīsu tathāgate. Tattha tathāgate sadisakappanāya āgato.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Etthetaṃ vuccati –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Sīhe paññattiyañcāpi, buddhe appaṭipuggale;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Imesu tīsu atthesu, <hi rend="bold">sīha</hi>saddo pavattati.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Rūpiruppati</hi>dhātūhi, <hi rend="bold">rūpa</hi>saddagatiṃ vade;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">‘‘Rūpayati ruppatī’’ti, vatvā nibbacanadvayaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Vuttañhetaṃ garūhi ‘‘rūpayatīti rūpaṃ, vaṇṇavikāraṃ āpajjamānaṃ hadayaṅgatabhāvaṃ pakāsetīti attho’’ti. Vuttampi cetaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘rūpa</hi>nti kenaṭṭhena rūpaṃ? Ruppanaṭṭhenā’’ti. Bhagavatā panetaṃ vuttaṃ ‘‘kiñca bhikkhave rūpaṃ vadetha, ruppatīti kho bhikkhave tasmā rūpanti vuccati. Kena ruppati, sītenapi ruppatī’’ti vitthāro. Atthuddhāro panassa heṭṭhā vuttova.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Pasavatemanatthena, dhātunā <hi rend="bold">udinā</hi> pana;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Samudda</hi>saddanipphattiṃ, vadeyya matimā naro.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ettha <pb ed="M" n="0.0357" /> hi <hi rend="bold">samuddo</hi>ti aṭṭhahi acchariyabbhutadhammehi samannāgatattā samuddati attasannissitānaṃ macchamakarādīnaṃ pītisomanassaṃ pasavati janetīti samuddo. Ayamasmākaṃ khanti. <hi rend="bold">Aṭṭhakathācariyā</hi> pana ‘‘samuddanaṭṭhena samuddo, kiledanaṭṭhena tenamanaṭṭhenāti vuttaṃ hotī’’ti vadanti. <hi rend="bold">Milindapañhe</hi> pana āyasmā nāgaseno ‘‘bhante nāgasena samuddo samuddoti vuccati, kena kāraṇena āpaṃ udakaṃ samuddoti vuccatī’’ti milindena raññā puṭṭho āha ‘‘yattakaṃ mahārāja udakaṃ, tattakaṃ loṇaṃ, yattakaṃ loṇaṃ, tattakaṃ udakaṃ, udakasamattā samuddoti vuccatī’’ti. Tadā raññā milindena ‘‘kallosi bhante nāgasenā’’ti vuttaṃ. Ettha hi samaṃ udakena loṇaṃ etthāti samuddoti nibbacanaṃ veditabbaṃ ‘‘nīloda’’ntiādīsu viya. Tattha <hi rend="bold">bhadantanāgasena</hi>matañca amhākaṃ matañca pakatisamuddaṃ sandhāya vuttattā na virujjhati, <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathācariyānaṃ</hi> matampi ‘‘taṇhāsamuddo’’ti ca ‘‘samuddopeso’’ti ca āgatāni samuddasarikkhakāni ca taṇhācakkhusotādīni sandhāya vuttattā na virujjhatīti daṭṭhabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Khāda</hi>dhātuvasā cāpi, <hi rend="bold">khanu</hi>dhātuvasena vā;</p>

<p rend="gatha2"><hi rend="bold">Khani</hi>to vāpi dhātumhā, <hi rend="bold">dhā</hi>to <hi rend="bold">khaṃ</hi>pubbatopi vā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Khandha</hi>saddassa nipphattiṃ, saddakkhandhavidū vade.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tattha ‘‘saṃkhittena pañcupādānakkhandhāpi dukkhā’’ti vacanato sayampi dukkhadhammoyeva samāno jātijarābyādhimaraṇadukkhādīhi anekehi dukkhehi khajjati khādiyatīti <hi rend="bold">khandho,</hi> teheva dukkhehi khaññati avadāriyatītipi <hi rend="bold">khandho,</hi> khaniyati parikhaññatītipi <hi rend="bold">khandho,</hi> attena vā attaniyena vā tucchattā khaṃ suññākāraṃ dhāretītipi <hi rend="bold">khandho,</hi> rūpakkhandhādi. Atthuddhārato pana –</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Khandha</hi>saddo <pb ed="M" n="0.0358" /> rāsiguṇa-paṇṇattīsu ca rūḷhiyaṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Koṭṭhāse ceva aṃse ca, vattatīti vibhāvaye.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Vuttañhetaṃ <hi rend="bold">sammohavinodaniyaṃ</hi> vibhaṅgaṭṭhakathāyaṃ – <hi rend="bold">khandha</hi>saddo sambahulesu ṭhānesu nipatati rāsimhi guṇe paṇṇattiyaṃ rūḷhiyanti. ‘‘Seyyathāpi bhikkhave mahāsamudde na sukaraṃ udakassa pamāṇaṃ gahetuṃ ‘‘ettakāni udakāḷhakānī’ti vā ‘ettakāni udakāḷhakasatānī’ti vā ‘ettakāni udakāḷhakasahassānī’ti vā ‘ettakāni udakāḷhakasatasahassānī’ti vā, atha kho asaṅkhyeyyo appameyyo mahāudakakkhandhotveva saṅkhaṃ gacchatī’’tiādīsu hi rāsito khandho nāma. Na hi parittakaṃ udakaṃ udakakkhandhoti vuccati, bahukameva vuccati, tathā na parittakaṃ rajo rajakkhandho, na appamattakā gāvo gavakkhandho, na appamattakaṃ balaṃ balakkhandho, na appamattakaṃ puññaṃ puññakkhandhoti vuccati. Bahukameva hi rajo rajakkhandho, bahukā ca gavādayo gavakkhandho, balakkhandho, puññakkhandhoti vuccanti. ‘‘Sīlakkhandho samādhikkhandho’’tiādīsu pana guṇato khandho nāma. ‘‘Addasā khā bhagavā mahantaṃ dārukkhandhaṃ gaṅgāya nadiyā sotena vuyhamāna’’nti ettha paṇṇattito khandho nāma. ‘‘Yaṃ cittaṃ mano mānasaṃ…pe… viññāṇaṃ viññāṇakkhandho’’tiādīsu rūḷhīto khandho nāma. Svāyamidha rāsito adhippeto. Ayañhi khandhaṭṭho nāma piṇḍaṭṭho pūgaṭṭho ghaṭaṭṭho rāsaṭṭho, tasmā rāsilakkhaṇā khandhāti veditabbā. Koṭṭhāsaṭṭhātipi vattuṃ vaṭṭati. Lokasmiñhi iṇaṃ gahetvā codiyamānā ‘‘dvīhi khandhehi dassāma, tīhi khandhehi dassāmā’’ti <pb ed="M" n="0.0359" /> vadanti. Iti koṭṭhāsalakkhaṇā khandhātipi vattuṃ vaṭṭati. Evamettha <hi rend="bold">‘‘rūpakkhandho</hi>ti rūparāsi rūpakoṭṭhāso, <hi rend="bold">vedanākkhandho</hi>ti vedanārāsi vedanākoṭṭhāso’’ti iminā nayena attho veditabbo. ‘‘Khandhe bhāraṃ. Khandhato otāreti, mahāhanusabhakkhandho’’tiādīsu pana aṃso ‘‘khandho’’ti vuccati.</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Tanu</hi>to <hi rend="bold">tani</hi>to vāpi, <hi rend="bold">āyatana</hi>ravo gato.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Vuttampi cetaṃ – āyatanato, āyānaṃ vā tananato, āyatassa ca nayanato āyatananti veditabbaṃ. Cakkhu rūpādīsu hi taṃtaṃdvārārammaṇā cittacetasikā dhammā sena sena anubhavanādikiccena āyatanti uṭṭhahanti ghaṭanti vāyamantīti vā vuttaṃ hoti. Te ca pana āyabhūte dhamme etāni tananti vitthārentīti vuttaṃ hoti. Idañca anamatagge saṃsāre pavattaṃ atīva āyataṃ saṃsāradukkhaṃ yāva na nivattati, tāva nayanti, pavattayantīti vuttaṃ hoti. Iti sabbepime dhammā āyatanato, āyānaṃ vā tananato, āyatassa ca nayanato āyatananti vuccanti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Apica nivāsaṭṭhānaṭṭhena ākaraṭṭhena samosaraṇaṭṭhānaṭṭhena sañjātidesaṭṭhena kāraṇaṭṭhena āyatanaṃ veditabbaṃ. Tathā hi ‘‘loke issarāyatanaṃ vāsudevāyatana’’ntiādīsu nivāsaṭṭhānaṃ āyatananti vuccati. ‘‘Suvaṇṇāyatanaṃ rajatāyatana’’ntiādīsu ākaro, sāsane pana ‘‘manorame āyatane, sevanti naṃ vihaṅgamā’’tiādīsu samosaraṇaṭṭhānaṃ <pb ed="M" n="0.0360" />. ‘‘Dakkhiṇāpatho gunnaṃ āyatana’’ntiādīsu sañjātideso. ‘‘Tatra tatreva sakkhibhabbataṃ pāpuṇāti sati satiāyatane’’tiādīsu kāraṇaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Cakkhuādīsu cāpi cittacetasikā dhammā nivasanti tadāyattavuttitāyāti cakkhādayo ca nesaṃ nivāsaṭṭhānaṃ. Cakkhādīsu te ākiṇṇā tannissitattā tadārammaṇattā cāti cakkhādayo ca nesaṃ ākaro. Cakkhādayo ca nesaṃ samosaraṇaṭṭhānaṃ tattha tattha dvārārammaṇavasena samosaraṇato. Cakkhādayo ca nesaṃ sañjātideso tannissayārammaṇabhāvena tattheva uppattito, cakkhādayo ca nesaṃ kāraṇaṃ tesaṃ abhāve abhāvato. Iti nivāsaṭṭhānaṭṭhena ākaraṭṭhena samosaraṇaṭṭhānaṭṭhena sañjātidesaṭṭhena kāraṇaṭṭhenāti imehi kāraṇehi ete dhammā āyatananti vuccanti, tasmā yathāvuttenatthena cakkhu ca taṃ āyatanañcāti <hi rend="bold">cakkhāyatanaṃ</hi>…pe… dhammā ca te āyatanañcāti <hi rend="bold">dhammāyatana</hi>nti evaṃ tāvettha atthato viññātabbo vinicchayoti. Iccevaṃ –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Nivāso ākaro ceva, jātideso ca kāraṇaṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Samosaraṇaṭṭhānañca, vuccatā’yatanaṃ iti;</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Vidividehi</hi> dhātūhi, <hi rend="bold">a</hi>kārapubbakehi vā;</p>

<p rend="gatha2"><hi rend="bold">Antavirahita</hi>saddū-papadena <hi rend="bold">ju</hi>nāpi vā.</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Avijjā</hi>saddanipphatti, dīpetabbā sudhīmatā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ettha pūretuṃ ayuttaṭṭhena kāyaduccaritādi avindiyaṃ nāma, <hi rend="bold">aladdhabba</hi>nti attho, taṃ avindiyaṃ vindatīti <hi rend="bold">avijjā,</hi> tabbiparītato kāyasucaritādi vindiyaṃ nāma, taṃ vindiyaṃ na vindatīti <hi rend="bold">avijjā</hi>. Khandhānaṃ rāsaṭṭhaṃ, āyatanānaṃ āyatanaṭṭhaṃ, dhātūnaṃ suññaṭṭhaṃ, saccānaṃ tathaṭṭhaṃ, indriyānaṃ adhipatiyaṭṭhaṃ aviditaṃ karotīti <pb ed="M" n="0.0361" /><hi rend="bold">avijjā</hi>. Dukkhādīnaṃ pīḷanādivasena vuttaṃ catubbidhaṃ atthaṃ aviditaṃ karotīti <hi rend="bold">avijjā,</hi> antavirahite saṃsāre sabbabhavayonigativiññāṇaṭṭhitisattāvāsesu satte javāpetīti <hi rend="bold">avijjā,</hi> paramatthato avijjamānesu itthipurisādīsu javati, vijjamānesupi khandhādīsu na javatīti <hi rend="bold">avijjā</hi>.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Yaṃ pana <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathāyaṃ</hi> ‘‘apica cakkhuviññāṇādīnaṃ vatthārammaṇapaṭiccasamuppādapaṭiccasamuppannā naṃ dhammānaṃ chādanatopi avijjā’’ti vuttaṃ, etaṃ na saddatthato vuttaṃ, atha kho avijjāya chādanakiccattā vuttaṃ. Tathā hi <hi rend="bold">abhidhammaṭīkāyaṃ</hi> idaṃ vuttaṃ –</p>

<p rend="indent">‘‘Byañjanatthaṃ dassetvā sabhāvatthaṃ dassetuṃ ‘apicā’tiādimāha, cakkhuviññāṇādīnaṃ vatthārammaṇāni ‘idaṃ vattu, idamārammaṇa’nti avijjāya ñātuṃ na sakkāti avijjā tappaṭicchādikā vuttā, vatthārammaṇasabhāvacchādanato eva avijjādīnaṃ paṭiccasamuppādabhāvassa, jarāmaraṇādīnaṃ paṭiccasamuppannabhāvassa ca chādanato paṭiccasamuppādapaṭiccasamuppannachādanaṃ veditabbanti. Tattha duggatigāmikammassa visesappaccayattā avijjā ‘avindiyaṃ vindatī’ti vuttā, tathā visesapaccayo vindanīyassa na hotīti ‘vindiyaṃ na vindatī’ti ca, attanissitānaṃ cakkhuviññāṇādīnaṃ pavattāpanaṃ uppādanaṃ āyatanaṃ, sammohabhāveneva anabhisamayabhūtattā ‘aviditaṃ aññātaṃ karoti, antavirahite javāpetī’ti vaṇṇāgamavipariyāyavikāravināsadhātuatthavisesayogehi pañcavidhassa niruttilakkhaṇassa vasena tīsupi padesu <hi rend="bold">a</hi>kāra<hi rend="bold">vi</hi>kāra<hi rend="bold">ja</hi>kāre gahetvā aññesaṃ vaṇṇānaṃ lopaṃ katvā <hi rend="bold">ja</hi>kārassa ca dutiyassa āgamaṃ katvā <hi rend="bold">avijjā</hi>ti vuttā’’ti.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Raha</hi>to <hi rend="bold">rahi</hi>to cāpi, akārapubbato idha;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Vuccate assa nipphatti, ārakādiravassitā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā hi <hi rend="bold">araha</hi>nti aggadakkhiṇeyyattā cīvarādipaccaye arahati pūjāvisesañcāti arahaṃ. Vuttañca –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Pūjāvisesaṃ saha paccayehi,</p>

<p rend="gatha2">Yasmā ayaṃ arahati lokanātho;</p>

<p rend="gatha3">Atthānurūpaṃ <hi rend="bold">araha</hi>nti loke,</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Tasmā jino arahati nāmameta’’nti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā so kilesārayo maggena hanīti <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi>. Vuttañca –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Yasmā rāgādisaṅkhātā, sabbepi arayo hatā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Paññāsatthena nāthena, tasmāpi <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi> mato’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Yañcetaṃ avijjābhavataṇhāmayanābhiṃ puññādiabhisaṅkhārāraṃ jarāmaraṇanemiṃ āsavasamudayamayena akkhena vijjhitvā vibhavarathe samāyojitaṃ anādikālappavattaṃ saṃsāracakkaṃ, tassa so bodhimaṇḍe vīriyapādehi sīlapathaviyaṃ patiṭṭhāya saddhāhatthena kammakkhayakaraṃ ñāṇaparasuṃ gahetvā sabbe are hanītipi <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi>. Vuttañca –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Arā saṃsāracakkassa, hatā ñāṇāsinā yato;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Lokanāthena tenesa, <hi rend="bold">araha</hi>nti pavuccatī’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā attahitaṃ parahitañca paripūretuṃ sammā paṭipajjantehi sādhūhi dūrato rahitabbā pariccajitabbā parihātabbāti rahā, rāgādayo pāpadhammā, na santi etassa rahāti <pb ed="M" n="0.0363" /><hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi>. ‘‘Araho’’ti vattabbe <hi rend="bold">o</hi>kārassa sānusāraṃ <hi rend="bold">a</hi>kārādesaṃ katvā ‘‘arahaṃ’’nti vuttaṃ. Āha ca –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Pāpadhammā rahā nāma, sādhūhi rahitabbato;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Tesaṃ suṭṭhu pahīnattā, bhagavā <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi> mato’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Atha vā khīṇāsavehi sekkhehi kalyāṇaputhujjanehi ca na rahitabbo na pariccajitabbo, te ca bhagavāti <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi>. Āha ca –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Ye ca sacchikatadhammā,</p>

<p rend="gatha2">Ariyā suddhagocarā;</p>

<p rend="gatha3">Na tehi rahito hoti,</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Nātho tenā’rahaṃ mato’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Raho</hi>ti ca gamanaṃ vuccati, natthi etassa raho gamanaṃ gatīsu paccājātīti <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi>. Āha ca –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Raho vā gamanaṃ yassa, saṃsāre natthi sabbaso;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Pahīnajātimaraṇo, <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi> sugato mato’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Pāsaṃsattā vā bhagavā <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi>. Akkharacintakā hi pasaṃsāyaṃ <hi rend="bold">araha</hi>sadaṃ vaṇṇenti. Pāsaṃsabhāvo ca bhagavato anaññasādhāraṇo yathābhuccaguṇādhigato sadevake loke suppatiṭṭhito. Iti pāsaṃsattāpi bhagavā <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi>. Āha ca –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Guṇehi sadiso natthi, yasmā loke sadevake;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Tasmā pāsaṃsiyattāpi, <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi> dvipaduttamo’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Imāni <pb ed="M" n="0.0364" /> nibbacanāni <hi rend="bold">‘‘araha pūjāyaṃ, hana hiṃsāyaṃ, raha cāge, rahi gatiya’’</hi>nti imesaṃ dhātūnaṃ vasena idha vuttāni kilesehi ārakattā ‘‘araha’’nti ca pāpakaraṇe rahābhāvā ‘‘araha’’nti ca asappurisānaṃ ārakā dūreti ‘‘araha’’nti ca sappurisānaṃ ārakā āsanneti ‘‘araha’’nti ca. Nibbacanāni pana dhātusaddanissitāni na hontīti idha na gahitāni. Pasaṃsā pana atthato pūjā evāti <hi rend="bold">‘‘araha pūjāya’’</hi>nti dhātussa attho bhavituṃ yuttoti idha amhehi gahitā, aṭṭhakathācariyehi tu <hi rend="bold">araha</hi>saddassa labbhamānavasena sabbepi atthā gahitā dhātunissitā ca adhātunissitā ca. Kathaṃ? –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Ārakattā hatattā ca, kilesārīna so muni;</p>

<p rend="gatha2">Hatasaṃsāracakkāro, paccayādīna cāraho;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Na raho karoti pāpāni, <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi> tena vuccatīti.</p>

<p rend="unindented"><hi rend="bold">Ṭīkācariyehipi</hi> tatheva gahitā. Kathaṃ? –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Ārakā mandabuddhīnaṃ, ārakā ca vijānataṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Bhavesu ca rahābhāvā, pāsaṃsā <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi> jinoti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Yathā pana <hi rend="bold">arahaṃ</hi>saddassa, evaṃ <hi rend="bold">arahā</hi>saddassāpi nibbacanāni veditabbāni.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Su</hi>pubba<hi rend="bold">gami</hi>to ceva, <hi rend="bold">su</hi>pubba<hi rend="bold">gadi</hi>topi ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Dhīro <hi rend="bold">sugata</hi>saddassa, nipphattiṃ samudīraye.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ettha hi <hi rend="bold">sugato</hi>ti sobhanaṃ gataṃ etassāti sugato, sundaraṃ ṭhānaṃ gatoti sugato, sammā gatoti sugato, sammā ca gadatīti sugatoti dhātunissitaṃ atthaṃ gahetvā saddanipphatti kātabbā. Vuttañhi <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathāsu</hi> –</p>

<p rend="indent">‘‘Sobhanagamanattā <pb ed="M" n="0.0365" />, sundaraṃ ṭhānaṃ gatattā, sammā gatattā, sammā ca gadattā sugato. Gamanampi hi gatanti vuccati, tañca bhagavato sobhanaṃ parisuddhamanavajjaṃ. Kiṃ pana tanti? Ariyamaggo, tenesa gamanena khemaṃ disaṃ asajjamāno gatoti sobhanagamanattā sugato’’tiādi.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Bhaga</hi>saddūpapadato, <hi rend="bold">vanu</hi>to <hi rend="bold">vamu</hi>topi ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Bhagavā</hi>saddanipphattiṃ, pavade aññathāpi vā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Atrimāni nibbacanāni – bhagasaṅkhātā lokiyalokuttarasampattiyo vani bhaji sevīti <hi rend="bold">bhagavā</hi>. Somanassakumārattabhāvādīsu carimattabhāve ca bhagasaṅkhātaṃ siriṃ issariyaṃ yasañca vami uggiri kheḷapiṇḍaṃ viya anapekkho chaḍḍayīti <hi rend="bold">bhagavā</hi>. Atha vā nakkhattehi samaṃ pavattattā bhagasaṅkhāte sineruyugandharauttarakuruhimavantādibhājanaloke vami, tannivāsitattāvāsasamatikkamanato tappaṭibaddhachandarāgappahānena pajahīti <hi rend="bold">bhagavā</hi>ti.</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Pāramī</hi>saddamīrenti, tato <hi rend="bold">pāramitā</hi>ravaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ettha <pb ed="M" n="0.0366" /> tāva uttamatthavācaka<hi rend="bold">parama</hi>saddavasena <hi rend="bold">pāramī</hi>nibbacanaṃ kathessāma. Tato <hi rend="bold">para</hi>dhātuvasena, tato <hi rend="bold">para</hi>saddūpapadamudhātādivasena tato <hi rend="bold">pāra</hi>saddūpapada<hi rend="bold">maja</hi>dhātādivasena.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Dānasīlādiguṇavisesayogena sattuttamatāya paramā. Mahābodhisattā bodhisattā, tesaṃ bhāvo, kammaṃ vā <hi rend="bold">pāramī,</hi> dānādikriyā. Atha vā parati pāleti pūreti cāti paramo, dānādīnaṃ guṇānaṃ pālako pūrako ca bodhisatto, paramassa ayaṃ, paramassa vā bhāvo, kammaṃ vā <hi rend="bold">pāramī,</hi> dānādikriyā. Atha vā paraṃ sattaṃ attani mavati bandhati guṇavisesayogenāti paramo, paraṃ vā adhikataraṃ majjati sujjhati kilesamalatoti paramo, paraṃ vā seṭṭhaṃ nibbānaṃ mayati gacchatīti paramo, paraṃ vā lokaṃ pamāṇabhūtena ñāṇavisesena idhalokaṃ viya munāti paricchindatīti paramo, paraṃ vā ativiya sīlādiguṇagaṇaṃ attano santāne minoti pakkhipatīti paramo, paraṃ vā attabhūtato dhammakāyato aññaṃ paṭipakkhaṃ vā tadanatthakaraṃ kilesacoragaṇaṃ mināti hiṃsatīti paramo, mahāsatto, paramassa ayaṃ, paramassa vā bhāvo, kammaṃ vā <hi rend="bold">pāramī,</hi> dānādikriyā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Aparo nayo – pāre nibbāne majjati sujjhati, satte ca majjeti sodhetīti pāramī, mahāpuriso, tassa bhāvo, kammaṃ vā <hi rend="bold">pāramitā</hi>. Pāre nibbāne satte mavati bandhati yojeīti pāramī, pāraṃ vā nibbānaṃ mayati gacchati, satte ca māyeti gametīti pāramī, munāti vā pāraṃ nibbānaṃ yāthāvato, tattha vā satte minoti pakkhipatīti pāramī, kilesāriṃ vā sattānaṃ pāre nibbāne mināti hiṃsatīti pāramī, mahāpuriso, tassa bhāvo, kammaṃ vā <hi rend="bold">pāramitā,</hi> dānādikriyāva. Iminā nayena pāramīnaṃ saddattho veditabbo.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Kara</hi>dhātuvasā <pb ed="M" n="0.0367" /> vāpi, <hi rend="bold">kira</hi>dhātuvasena vā;</p>

<p rend="gatha2"><hi rend="bold">Kaṃ</hi>saddūpapada<hi rend="bold">rudhi</hi>-dhātuto vāpi dīpaye;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Karuṇā</hi>saddanipphattiṃ, mahākaruṇasāsane.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tattha <hi rend="bold">karuṇā</hi>ti paradukkhe sati sādhūnaṃ hadayakampanaṃ karotīti karuṇā. Kirati paradukkaṃ vikkhipatīti <hi rend="bold">karuṇā</hi>. Kaṃ vuccati sukhaṃ, taṃ rundhati vibādhati kāruṇikaṃ na sukhāpetītipi <hi rend="bold">karuṇā</hi>.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Vidividhavida</hi>dhātu-vasena paridīpaye;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Vijjā</hi>saddassa nipphattiṃ, saddanipphattikovido.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tattha <hi rend="bold">vijjā</hi>ti vindiyaṃ kāyasucaritādiṃ vindati yāthāvato upalabhatīti vijjā. Tamokhandhādipadālanaṭṭhena vā attano paṭipakkhaṃ vijjhatīti <hi rend="bold">vijjā</hi>. Tato eva attano visayaṃ viditaṃ karotītipi <hi rend="bold">vijjā</hi>.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Medha</hi>dhātuvasā ceva, <hi rend="bold">medhā</hi>dhātūhi ca dvidhā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Medhā</hi>saddassa nipphattiṃ, medhāvī samudīraye.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tattha <hi rend="bold">medhā</hi>ti sammohaṃ medhati hiṃsatīti medhā. Pāpake vā akusale dhamme medhati hiṃsatītipi <hi rend="bold">medhā</hi>. Atha vā –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Paññā hi seṭṭhā kusalā vadanti,</p>

<p rend="gatha2">Nakkhattarājāriva tārakānaṃ;</p>

<p rend="gatha3">Sīlaṃ siriñcāpi satañca dhammo,</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Anvāyikā paññavato bhavantī’’ti</p>

<p rend="unindented">Vacanato pana medhati sīlena siriyā satañca dhammehi saha gacchati, na ekikā hutvā tiṭṭhatītipi <hi rend="bold">medhā</hi>. Aparo nayo – sukhumampi atthaṃ dhammañca khippameva meti ca dhāreti cāti <hi rend="bold">medhā,</hi> ettha <hi rend="bold">metī</hi>ti gaṇhātīti attho. Tathā hi <pb ed="M" n="0.0368" /><hi rend="bold">aṭṭhasāliniyaṃ</hi> vuttaṃ ‘‘asani viya siluccaye kilese medhati hiṃsatīti medhā, khippaṃ gahaṇadhāraṇaṭṭhena vā medhā’’ti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ranjanti sattā etthāti <hi rend="bold">ratti,</hi> rā saddo tiyyati chijjati etthāti <hi rend="bold">ratti,</hi> sattānaṃ saddassa vūpasamakāloti attho.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Mā</hi> māne iti <hi rend="bold">so</hi>anta, kammanīti cubhohi tu;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Dhātūhi <hi rend="bold">māsa</hi>saddassa, nipphattiṃ samudīraye.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā hi sattānaṃ āyuṃ mānanto viya siyati antaṃ karotīti <hi rend="bold">māso,</hi> cittamāsādayo dvādasa māsā. Seyyathidaṃ? Citto visākho jeṭṭho āsāḷho sāvaṇo bhaddo assayujo kattiko māgasiro phusso māgho phagguṇoti. Tatra citto māso ‘‘rammako’’ti vuccati. ‘‘Yathāpi rammake māse, bahū pupphanti vārijā’’ti pāḷi dissati. Bhaddo pana ‘‘poṭṭhapādo’’ti vuccati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Atha vā <hi rend="bold">māso</hi>ti aparaṇṇavisesassapi suvaṇṇamāsassapi nāmaṃ. Tattha aparaṇṇaviseso yathāparimite kāle asiyati bhakkhiyatīti <hi rend="bold">māso,</hi> itaro pana ‘‘mama ida’’nti masiyati āmasiyati gaṇhiyatīti <hi rend="bold">māso</hi>ti vuccati.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Saṃ</hi>pubba<hi rend="bold">vadacare</hi>hi, <hi rend="bold">saṃvacchara</hi>ravassa tu;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Nipphattiṃ samudīreyya, sakyasīhassa sāsane.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā hi taṃ taṃ sattaṃ dhammappavattiñca saṅgamma vadanto viya carati pavattatīti <hi rend="bold">saṃvaccharo</hi>.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Bhidibhikkhi</hi>dhātuvasā <pb ed="M" n="0.0369" />, atha vā bhayavācakaṃ;</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā hi kilese bhindatīti <hi rend="bold">bhikkhu</hi>. Chinnabhinnapaṭadharotipi <hi rend="bold">bhikkhu</hi>. Bhikkhanasīlotipi <hi rend="bold">bhikkhu</hi>. Saṃsāre bhayaṃ ikkhati, ikkhanasīloti vā <hi rend="bold">bhikkhu</hi>.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Sadabhidīhi</hi> dhātūhi, <hi rend="bold">sabbhi</hi>saddagatiṃ vade;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Sappurise ca nibbāne, esa saddo pavattati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Atrimāni nibbacanāni – sīdanasabhāve kilese bhindatīti <hi rend="bold">sabbhi,</hi> sappuriso, yo ‘‘ariyo’’tipi ‘‘paṇḍito’’tipi vuccati. Apica sīdanasabhāvā kilesā bhijjanti etthāti <hi rend="bold">sabbhi,</hi> nibbānaṃ, yaṃ ‘‘rāgakkhayo’’tiādināmaṃ labhati. Tathā hi <hi rend="bold">saṃyuttaṭṭhakathāyaṃ</hi> vuttaṃ ‘‘yasmā nibbānaṃ āgamma sīdanasabhāvā kilesā bhijjanti, tasmā taṃ sabbhīti vuccatī’’ti.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Yasmā nibbānamāgama, saṃsīdanasabhāvino;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Guṇehi brūhitā dhīrā, porāṇācariyā’bravuṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā hi bravantā ettha sīdantīti <hi rend="bold">bhisī</hi>ti <hi rend="bold">bhisi</hi>saddassa sambhavaṃ porāṇā kathayiṃsu.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Gandha</hi>dhātuvasā cāpi, <hi rend="bold">gamu</hi>dhātuvasena vā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Gamudhā</hi>dhātuto vāpi, <hi rend="bold">gandha</hi>saddagatiṃ vade.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tathā hi gandhayatīti <hi rend="bold">gandho,</hi> attano vatthuṃ sūcayati ‘‘idaṃ sugandhaṃ, idaṃ duggandha’’nti pakāseti, paṭicchannaṃ, vā pupphaphalādiṃ ‘‘idamettha atthī’’ti pesuññaṃ karonto viya ahosīti attho. Atha vā gandhayati chindati manāpagandho sugandhabhāvena duggandhaṃ, amanāpagandho ca duggandhabhāvena sugandhanti <hi rend="bold">gandho</hi>. Ettha pana <hi rend="bold">gandha</hi>saddassa chedanavācakatte –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Atijātaṃ anujātaṃ, puttamicchanti paṇḍitā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Avajātaṃ na icchanti, yo hoti kulagandhano’’ti</p>

<p rend="unindented">Ayaṃ pāḷi nidassanaṃ. Vāyunā vā nīyamāno gacchatīti <hi rend="bold">gandho. Kaccāyanasmiñhi</hi> ‘‘khādāmagamānaṃ khandhandhagandhā’’ti <hi rend="bold">khādaamagami</hi>iccetesaṃ dhātūnaṃ yathākkamaṃ <hi rend="bold">khandha andhagandhā</hi>desā vuttā. Atha vā gacchanto dhariyate soti <hi rend="bold">gandho</hi>. Vuttañhetaṃ bhadantena <hi rend="bold">buddhadattācariyena</hi> veyyākaraṇena niruttinayadassinā ‘‘dhariyatīti gacchanto, gandho sūcanatopi vā’’ti.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Rasa</hi>dhātuvasā ceva, <hi rend="bold">ramāsa</hi>dhātutopi ca;</p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Rasa</hi>saddassa nipphattiṃ, āhu dhammarasaññuno.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Raso</hi>ti <pb ed="M" n="0.0371" /> hi rasanti taṃ assādentīti <hi rend="bold">raso,</hi> ramantā taṃ asantītipi <hi rend="bold">raso</hi>. Vuttampi cetaṃ ‘‘ramamānā na’santīti rasoti paridīpito’’ti. Tatrāyamattho – devamanussādayo sattā yasmā ramamānā naṃ dhammajātaṃ asanti bhakkhanti, tasmā taṃ dhammajātaṃ raso nāmāti niruttaññūhi paridīpitoti. Padacchedo pana evaṃ veditabbo –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Naṃ asanti na santīti, padacchedo siyā tahiṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Kammakārakabhāvena, attho hi tattha icchito.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Iti vuttānusārena, avuttesu padesupi;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Yathārahaṃ nayaññūhi, nayo neyyo susobhano.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Dhātucintāya ye muttā, anipphannāti te matā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Te cāpi bahavo santi, <hi rend="bold">pītalohitakā</hi>dayo;</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Nipphanne api dhātūhi, sadde <hi rend="bold">dhagā</hi>itiādayo;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Anipphannaṃva pekkhanti, <hi rend="bold">gavādi</hi>vidhibhedato.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Tathā hi ‘‘gacchatīti go’’, iti vuttapadaṃ puna;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Anipphannaṃ karitvāna, ‘‘gāvo’’ iccādikaṃbravuṃ.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Ekantena anipphannā, saddā <hi rend="bold">viḍūḍabhā</hi>dayo;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Dhāturūpakasaddā ca, ‘‘pabbatāyati’’ādayo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Seyyathidaṃ? ‘‘Viḍūḍabho, tisso, yevāpano, pītaṃ, lohitaṃ’’ iccevamādīni nāmikapadāni anipphannāni bhavanti. ‘‘Nīlaṃ, pītaṃ, yevāpanako’’ iccādīni pana nīlavaṇṇe pītavaṇṇe. <hi rend="bold">Ke re ge sadde</hi>ti dhātuvasena āgatattā nīlatīti <hi rend="bold">nīlaṃ,</hi> pītatīti <hi rend="bold">pītaṃ,</hi> ye vā pana itivacanena bhagavatā kiyate kathiyateti <hi rend="bold">yevāpanako</hi>ti nibbacanamarahantīti nipphannānīti vattabbāni. Keci panettha vadeyyuṃ ‘‘nanu nīlati pītatītiādīni kriyāpadāni tepiṭake buddhavacane na dissantī’’ti? Kiñcāpi <pb ed="M" n="0.0372" /> na dissanti, tathāpi etarahi avijjamānā purāṇabhāsā esāti gahetabbāni. Yathā hi ‘‘nāthatīti nātho’’ti ettha kiñcāpi ‘‘nāthatī’’ti kriyāpadaṃ buddhavacane na dissati, tathāpi <hi rend="bold">nātha yācanopatāpissariyāsīsanesū</hi>ti dhātuno diṭṭhattā aṭṭhakathācariyā gaṇhiṃsuyeva, evaṃ sampadamidaṃ daṭṭhabbaṃ. Na hi kriyāpadaparihīno dhātu vucceyya.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Kiñca bhiyyo – yathā ‘‘yāva byāti nimīsati, tatrāpi rasatibbayo’’ti <hi rend="bold">jātakapāḷiyaṃ</hi> imasmiṃ buddhuppāde devamanussānaṃ vohārapathe asañcarantaṃ purāṇabhāsābhūtaṃ ‘‘byātī’’ti kriyāpadampi dissati, tathā ‘‘nīlati, pītatī’’tiādīhipi purāṇabhāsābhūtehi kriyāpadehi bhavitabbaṃ. Tattha <hi rend="bold">yāva byātī</hi>ti yāva ummīsati. Ayañhi tasmiṃ kāle vohāro, yasmiṃ kāle bodhisatto cūḷabodhi nāma paribbājako ahosi. Yathā pana <hi rend="bold">viḍūḍabha</hi>saddādayo dhātuvasena anipphannā nāma vuccanti, tathā ‘‘pabbatāyati, samuddāyati, cicciṭāyati, dhūmāyati, duddubhāyati, mettāyati, karuṇāyati, mamāyati’’ iccevamādayo ca ‘‘chattīyati, vatthīyati, parikkhārīyati, dhanīyati, paṭīyati’’ iccevamādayo ca ‘‘atihatthayati, upavīṇayati, daḷhayati, pamāṇayati, kusalayati, visuddhayati’’ iccevamādayo ca dhātuvasena anipphannāyeva nāma vuccanti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tattha ‘‘pabbatāyatī’’tiādīsu saṅgho pabbatamiva attānamācarati <hi rend="bold">pabbatāyati,</hi> evaṃ <hi rend="bold">samuddāyati</hi>. Saddo cicciṭamiva attānamācarati <hi rend="bold">cicciṭāyati</hi>. Vatthu dhūmamiva attānamācarati <hi rend="bold">dhūmāyati</hi>. Saddo duddubhaiti ācarati <hi rend="bold">duddubhāyati,</hi> bhikkhu mettāyati, tathā karuṇāyati. ‘‘Mama ida’’nti gaṇhati <hi rend="bold">mamāyati</hi>. Achattaṃ chattamiva ācarati <hi rend="bold">chattīyati</hi>. Aputtaṃ <pb ed="M" n="0.0373" /> puttamiva ācarati <hi rend="bold">puttīyati,</hi> sissaṃ ācariyo, attano pattamicchati <hi rend="bold">pattīyati</hi>. Evaṃ vatthīyati, parikkhārīyati, cīvarīyati, dhanīyati, paṭīyati. Hatthinā atikkamati <hi rend="bold">atihatthayati</hi>. Vīṇāya upagāyati <hi rend="bold">upavīṇayati</hi>. Daḷhaṃ karoti vīriyaṃ <hi rend="bold">daḷhayati</hi>. Pamāṇaṃ karoti <hi rend="bold">pamāṇayati</hi>. Kusalaṃ pucchati <hi rend="bold">kusalayati</hi>. Visuddhā hoti ratti <hi rend="bold">visuddhāyati</hi>.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tatrāyaṃ padamālā – ‘‘pabbatāyati, pabbatāyanti. Pabbatāyasi, pabbatāyatha. Pabbatāyāmi, pabbatāyāmā’’ti iminā nayena aṭṭhannaṃ vibhattīnaṃ vasena sesaṃ sabbaṃ yojetabbaṃ, evaṃ ‘‘samuddāyati, chattīyatī’’tiādīsu. Tatra kāritavasenapi ‘‘pabbatāyantaṃ payojayati pabbatāyati, puttiyantaṃ payojayati puttīyati’’ iccādi padasiddhi bhavati. Ayaṃ pana padamālā – pabbatāyati, pabbatāyanti. Pabbatāyasi. Sesaṃ yojetabbaṃ. Iccevaṃ dhātuvasena nipphannānipphannapadāni vibhāvitāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Idāni dhātugaṇalakkhaṇaṃ, adhātulakkhaṇaṃ, kāritapaccayayogaṃ, sakāritekakammadvikammatikammapadaṃ, ūhanīyarūpagaṇaṃ, dhātūnaṃ ekagaṇikadvigaṇikategaṇikapadaṃ, suddhakattuhetukattupadarūpaṃ, kammabhāvapadarūpaṃ, ekakāritadvikāritapadaṃ, akāritadvikammakapadañca sabbametaṃ yathārahaṃ kathayāma.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tatra sabbadhātukanissite suddhakattuppayoge suddhassaradhātuto vā ekassarato vā anekassarato vā <hi rend="bold">a</hi>paccayassa parabhāvo <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>gaṇalakkhaṇaṃ sāmaññalakkhaṇavasena, visesalakkhaṇavasena pana ākhyātatte <hi rend="bold">i</hi>kārantānekassaradhātuto saha <hi rend="bold">a</hi>paccayena niccaṃ niggahītāgamanañca nāmikatte niggahītāgamanamattañca <hi rend="bold">bhūvādigaṇalakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Ākyātatte kattari dhātūhi <hi rend="bold">a</hi>paccayena saddhiṃniyatavasena niggahītāgamanaṃ <hi rend="bold">rudhādi</hi>gaṇalakkhaṇaṃ sāmaññalakkhaṇavasena, visesalakkhaṇavasena <pb ed="M" n="0.0374" /> pana ākhyātatte kattari dhātūhi <hi rend="bold">ivaṇṇekārokāra</hi>paccayehi saddhiṃ niyatavasena niggahītāgamanañca nāmakatte aniyatavasena niggahītāgamanamattañca <hi rend="bold">rudhādigaṇalakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Kattari dhātūhi ādesalābhālābhino <hi rend="bold">ya</hi>paccayassa parabhāvo <hi rend="bold">divādigaṇalakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Kattari dhātūhi yathārahaṃ <hi rend="bold">ṇu ṇā uṇā</hi>paccayānaṃ parabhāvo <hi rend="bold">svādigaṇalakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Kattari dhātūhi <hi rend="bold">nā</hi>paccayassa parabhāvo <hi rend="bold">kiyādigaṇalakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Kattari dhātūhi ākhyātatte appakatarappayogavasena nāmikatte pacurappayogavasena <hi rend="bold">ppaṇhā</hi>paccayānaṃ parabhāvo <hi rend="bold">gahādigaṇalakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Kattari dhātūhi yathāsambhavaṃ <hi rend="bold">oyira</hi>ppaccayānaṃ parabhāvo <hi rend="bold">tanādigaṇalakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Ākhyātatte kattari dhātūhi sabbathā <hi rend="bold">ṇeṇaya</hi>ppaccayānaṃ parabhāvo <hi rend="bold">curādi</hi>gaṇalakkhaṇaṃ sāmaññalakkhaṇavasena, visesalakkhaṇavasena pana ākhyātatte <hi rend="bold">i</hi>kārantadhātuto saha <hi rend="bold">ṇe ṇaya</hi>paccayehi niccaṃ niggahītāgamanañca nāmikatte niggahītāgamanamattañca <hi rend="bold">curādigaṇalakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Gaṇasūcakānaṃ paccayānamaparattaṃ <hi rend="bold">adhātulakkhaṇaṃ</hi>. Iti dhātugaṇalakkhaṇamadhātulakkhaṇaṃ vibhāvitaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Kāritapaccayassa yoge ‘‘ṇe ṇayo ṇāpe ṇāpayo cā’’ti ime cattāro kāritapaccayā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Soseti, sosayati. Sosāpeti, sosāpayati. Ghosāpeti, ghosāpayati. <hi rend="bold">A</hi>kārantadhāturupāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Maggo saṃsārato lokaṃ ñāpeti, ñāpayati. <hi rend="bold">I</hi>dhāturūpāni niggacchāpetīti etesamattho. Imāni hi <hi rend="bold">ni</hi>pubbāya <hi rend="bold">i</hi>dhātuyā vasena sambhūtāni hetukatturūpāni. Tathā hi suddhakattubhāvena maggo sayaṃ ñāyati, saṃsārato niggacchatīti ñāyoti vuccati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Pāveti, pāvayati, <hi rend="bold">u</hi>dhāturūpāni. Vadāpetīti etesamattho. Imāni hi papubbāya <hi rend="bold">u</hi>dhātuyā vasena sambhūtāni hetukatturūpāni. Tathā hi ‘‘yo ātumānaṃ sayameva pāvā’’ti suddhakattupadaṃ āhaccabhāsitaṃ dissati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Khepeti, khepayati. Kaṅkheti, kaṅkhayati, kaṅkhāpeti, kaṅkhāpayati. Ācikkhāpeti, ācikkhāpayati. <hi rend="bold">I</hi>vaṇṇantadhāturūpāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Khiyeti, khiyayati. Milāyeti, milāyayati. Ekārantadhāturūpāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Siyeti, siyayati. <hi rend="bold">O</hi>kārantadhāturūpāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Pabbatāyāyati, puttiyāyati. Adhātunissitāni rūpāni. Iminā nayena sesāni avuttānipi rūpāni sakkā viññātuṃ viññunā pāḷinayaññunāti vitthāro na dassito. Iti kāritapaccayayogo saṅkhepena vibhāvito.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Dvikammikā sambhavanti, tikammā ettha dīpaye;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">‘‘Issaro sevakaṃ gāmaṃ, ajaṃ nāyeti’’ iccapi.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Naro narena vā gāmaṃ, ajaṃ nāyeti’’iccapi;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Kammatthadīpakaṃyeva, karaṇaṃ ettha icchitaṃ.</p>

<p rend="unindented">Iti sakāritekakammādīni vibhāvitāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Idāni <hi rend="bold">ūhanīyarūpagaṇaṃ</hi> brūma – hoti, bhoti, sambhoti, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Sumbhoti, parisumbhoti, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">rudhādi</hi>gūpaṃ. Deti, neti, vadeti, anveti, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Rundheti, paṭirundheti, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">rudhādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Buddheti, palibuddheti, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">curādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Jayati, sayati, palāyati, milāyati, gāyati, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Hāyati, sāyati, nhāyati, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Kathayati, cintayati, bhājayati, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">curādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Gabbati, pagabbati, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Kubbati, krubbati, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">tanādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Hinoti, cinoti, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">svādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Tanoti, sanoti, karoti, idaṃ <hi rend="bold">tanādi</hi>rūpaṃ. Cinteti, cintayati, idaṃ katturūpañceva hetukatturūpañca. Kanteti, kantayati, idaṃ hetukatturūpameva. Bhakkheti, bhakkhayati, vādeti, vādayati, idaṃ suddhakatturūpañceva hetukatturūpañca. <hi rend="bold">Miyyatī</hi>ti kattupadañceva kammapadañca. <hi rend="bold">Bhāvethā</hi>ti bahuvacanañceva ekavacanañca. <hi rend="bold">Saṃyamissa</hi>nti anāgatavacanañceva atītavacanañca. <hi rend="bold">Anusāsatī</hi>ti ākhyātañceva nāmikañca. <hi rend="bold">Gacchaṃ vidhamaṃ nikkhaṇa</hi>nti nāmikañceva <pb ed="M" n="0.0377" /> ākhyātañca. Ettha ākhyātatte <hi rend="bold">gaccha</hi>nti anāgatavacanaṃ, <hi rend="bold">vidhama</hi>nti atītavacanaṃ, <hi rend="bold">nikhaṇa</hi>nti parikappavacanaṃ, sabbaṃ vā etaṃ padaṃ anāgatādhivacanantipi vattuṃ vaṭṭateva. Iminā nayena aññānipi ūhanīyapadāni nānappakārato yojetabbāni. Imāni padāni dubbiññeyyavisesāni mandabuddhīnaṃ sammohakarāni ācariyapācariye payirupāsitvā vedanīyānīti ūhanīyarūpagaṇo vibhāvito.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Idāni <hi rend="bold">ekagaṇikādīni</hi> vadāma – <hi rend="bold">dhā dhāraṇe, bhūvādi</hi>gaṇikavasenāyaṃ ekagaṇikā sakammikā dhātu. Bhagavā sakalalokassa hitaṃ dadhāti vidadhāti, puriso atthaṃ saṃvidheti, nidhiṃ nidheti, imāni suddhakattari bhavanti. ‘‘Saṃvidhāpeti, vidhāpetī’’ti imāni hetukattari bhavanti. Kamme pana bhāve ca ‘‘anuvidhīyatī’’tiādīni bhavanti. Tathā hi kamme ‘‘nidhi nāma nidhīyatī’’ti ca ‘‘dhīyati dhapiyatīti dheyya’’nti ca rūpāni dissanti. Tattha kamme ‘‘kammaṃ sattehi anuvidhiyyati, kammāni sattehi anuvidhiyyanti. Bho kamma tvaṃ sattehi anuvidhiyyasi, ahaṃ kammaṃ sattehi anuvidhiyyāmī’’tiādinā yojetabbaṃ. Bhāve pana ‘‘satto dukkhaṃ anuvidhiyyati, sattā dukkhaṃ anuvidhiyyanti, to satta tvaṃ dukkhaṃ anuvidhiyyasī’’ti yojetabbaṃ. Ayaṃ nayo ativiya sukhumo pāḷinayānukūlo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Nāmikapadatte ‘‘dhātū’’tiādīni bhavanti. Tattha <hi rend="bold">dhātū</hi>ti salakkhaṇaṃ dadhāti dhāretīti dhātu. <hi rend="bold">Aṭṭhakathāsu</hi> pana ‘‘salakkhaṇadhāraṇato dukkhavidhānato dukkhadhānato ca dhātū’’ti vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Dhātū</hi>ti pathavīdhātādidhātuyo. Tattha <hi rend="bold">salakkhaṇadhāraṇato</hi>ti yathā titthiyaparikappito pakati attāti evamādiko sabhāvato natthi, na evametā, etā pana salakkhaṇaṃ sabhāvaṃ dhārentīti dhātuyo <pb ed="M" n="0.0378" />. <hi rend="bold">Dukkhavidhānato</hi>ti dukkhassa vidahanato. Etā hi dhātuyo kāraṇabhāvena vavatthitā hutvā yathā ayalohādidhātuyo ayalohādianekappakāraṃ saṃsāradukkhaṃ vidahanti. <hi rend="bold">Dukkhadhānato</hi>ti anappakassa dukkhassa vidhānamattato avasavattanato, taṃ vā dukkhaṃ etāhi kāraṇabhūtāhi sattehi anuvidhīyati, tathāvihitañca taṃ etesveva dhīyati ṭhapiyati, evaṃ dukkhadhānato dhātuyo. Apica nijjīvaṭṭho dhātavoti gahetabbaṃ. Tathā hi bhagavā ‘‘cha dhātuyosaṃ bhikkhu puriso’’tiādīsu jīvasaññāsamūhanatthaṃ dhātudesanaṃ akāsīti. Yo pana tattha amhehi bhāvaṭṭhāne ‘‘satto dukkhaṃ anuvidhiyyatī’’ti tipurisamaṇḍito ekavacanabahuvacaniko paṭhamāvibhattippayogo vutto. So –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">‘‘Dūsito giridattena, hayo sāmassa paṇḍavo;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Porāṇaṃ pakatiṃ hitvā, tassevānuvidhiyyatī’’ti ca</p>

<p rend="bodytext">‘‘Mātā hi tava irandhati, vidhurassa hadayaṃ dhaniyyatī’’ti ca ‘‘te saṃkilesikā dhammā pahīyissantī’’ti ca imāsaṃ pāḷīnaṃ vasena sārato paccetabbo. Tattha paṇḍavo nāma asso giridattanāmakassa assagopakassa pakatiṃ <hi rend="bold">anuvidhiyyati</hi> anukarotīti attho. Ettha ca yadi kattupadaṃ icchitaṃ siyā, ‘‘anuvidadhātī’’ti pāḷi vattabbā siyā. Yadi kammapadaṃ icchitaṃ siyā, ‘‘paṇḍavenā’’ti tatiyantaṃ kattupadaṃ vattabbaṃ siyā, evaṃ avacanena ‘‘anuvidhiyyatī’’ti idaṃ bhāvapadanti siddhaṃ. Na kenaci ettha vattuṃ sakkā <hi rend="bold">‘‘divādi</hi>gaṇe kattari vihita<hi rend="bold">ya</hi>paccayassa vasena vuttaṃ idaṃ rūpa’’nti, <hi rend="bold">dhā</hi>dhātuyā <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>gaṇe appavattanato, ekanta<hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>gaṇikattā ca. Dutiyappayoge pana yadi kattupadaṃ icchitaṃ siyā, ‘‘dhanute’’ti pāḷi vattabbā siyā. Yadi kammapadaṃ icchitaṃ siyā, ‘‘dhātuyā’’ti vattabbaṃ siyā <pb ed="M" n="0.0379" />. Evaṃ avacanena ‘‘dhaniyyatī’’ti idampi bhāvapadanti siddhaṃ. Ettha <hi rend="bold">‘‘dhaniyyatī</hi>ti pattheti, icchatīti attho’’ti <hi rend="bold">aṭṭhakathāyaṃ</hi> vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">‘‘Dhanu yācane’’</hi>ti dhātu esā ekantena <hi rend="bold">tanādi</hi>gaṇeyeva vattati. Tatiyappayoge ‘‘pahīyissantī’’ti yadi <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>gaṇe <hi rend="bold">‘‘hā cāge’’</hi>ti dhātuyā rūpaṃ siyā, kattari ‘‘pajahissantī’’ti rūpaṃ siyā, ‘‘kasmā no pajahissatī’’ti ettha viya. Kammapadaṃ pana ‘‘pajahiyissantī’’ti siyā. Yasmā ‘‘pahīyissantī’’ti idaṃ <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>gaṇe <hi rend="bold">‘‘hā parihāniya’’</hi>nti dhātuyā rūpattā ‘‘pahāyissantī’’ti kattupadarūpaṃ siyā ‘‘ājañño kurute vegaṃ, hāyanti tattha vaḷavā’’ti akammakassa kattupadarūpassa dassanato, tasmā ‘‘pahāyissantī’’ti avatvā ‘‘pahīyissantī’’ti vacanena <hi rend="bold">ya</hi>paccayo bhāve vattatīti ñāyati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Keci panettha vadeyyuṃ ‘‘so pahīyissati. Te saṃkilesikā dhammā pahīyissanti. Rūpaṃ vibhaviyyati. Aggijāhi pubbeva bhūyate’tiādīsu <hi rend="bold">ya</hi>paccayo kammeyeva vihito, na bhāve. Kammakattuvasena hi ime payogā daṭṭhabbā, sayameva pīyate pānīyaṃ, sayameva kaṭo kariyateti payogā viyā’’ti. Taṃ na, evañhi sati ‘‘pajahiyissantī’’tiādīni sakammakadhāturūpāni vattabbāni ‘‘pīyate kariyate’’ti rūpāni viya. Ettha pana bhāvaṭṭhāne kattuno ṭhitabhāvo heṭṭhā nānappakārena dassitoti na vutto. Ye saddasatthe mataṃ gahetvā sāsanikā garū bhāve adabbavuttino bhāvassekattā ekavacanameva, tañca paṭhamapurisasseva ‘‘bhūyate devadattena devadattena sampattiṃ anubhavananti attho’’ti payogañca tadatthayojanañca <pb ed="M" n="0.0380" /> vadanti. Tesaṃ taṃ vacanaṃ pāḷiyā, aṭṭhakathādīhi ca na sameti, tasmā yathāvuttoyevattho āyasmantehi dhāretabbo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Jara roge</hi>. Jarati, jariyyati. <hi rend="bold">Jaravayohāniyaṃ</hi>. Jīrati, jiyyati. Imā dvepi <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi> gaṇikavasena ekagaṇikā. Tāsaṃ ayaṃ sādhāraṇarūpavibhāvanā. ‘‘Yena ca santappati, yena ca jariyyatī’’tiādi. Tattha <hi rend="bold">yena ca jariyyatī</hi>ti yena tejogatena kupitena ayaṃ kāyo ekāhikādijararogena jariyyati jarati. Atha vā <hi rend="bold">yena ca jariyati</hi> yena ayaṃ kāyo jīrati indriyavekalyataṃ balakkhayaṃ palitavalitādiñca pāpuṇāti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Mara pāṇacāge. Bhūvādi</hi>gaṇikoyaṃ akammako ca. Satto marati, miyyati. Kiñcāpi ayaṃ dhātu <hi rend="bold">‘‘mara pāṇacāge’’</hi>ti vacanato sakammako viya dissati, tathāpi ‘‘putto marati. Kicchaṃ vatāyaṃ loko āpanno jāyati ca jiyyati ca miyyati cā’’ti evamādīnaṃ kammarahitappayogānaṃ dassanato akammakoyevāti daṭṭhabbaṃ. Atthayojanānayena pana <hi rend="bold">maratī</hi>ti pāṇaṃ cajatīti kammaṃ ānetvā kathetuṃ labbhati. ‘‘Marati, miyatī’’ti imāni suddhakattupadāni, ‘‘satto sattaṃ māreti, mārayati, mārāpeti, mārāpayatī’’ti imāni kāritapadasaṅkhātāni hetukattupadāni. Ettha ca yo amataṃ sattaṃ maraṇaṃ pāpeti, so vadhako māreti mārayati mārāpeti mārāpayatīti ca vuccati. Satto sattehi māriyati mārāpiyatīti imāni kammapadāni. Bhāvapadamappasiddhaṃ. Evamaññatrāpi pasiddhatā ca appasiddhatā ca upaparikkhitabbā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Khāda bhakkhaṇe</hi>. Ayaṃ pana <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>gaṇikavasena ekagaṇiko sakammako dhātu. Khādati, saṅkhādati, imāni suddhakattupadāni <pb ed="M" n="0.0381" />. Puriso purisena purisaṃ vā pūvaṃ khādeti khādayati khādāpeti khādāpayati, imāni hetukattupadāni. Ettha ca yo akhādantaṃ khādantaṃ vā khādāhīti payojeti, so khādāpako khādeti khādayati khādāpeti khādāpayatīti ca vuccati. Khajjati, saṃkhajjati, saṅkhādiyati. Imāni kammapadāni. Atrapanāyaṃ pāḷi ‘‘atītaṃ pāhaṃ addhānaṃ rūpena khajjiṃ, seyyathāpāhaṃ etarahi paccuppannena rūpena khajjāmi. Ahañceva kho pana anāgataṃ rūpaṃ abhinandeyyaṃ, anāgatenapāhaṃ rūpena khajjeyyaṃ, seyyathāpetarahi khajjāmī’’ti. Bhāvapadaṃ na labbhati sakammakattā imassa dhātussa. <hi rend="bold">Bhūvādi</hi>gaṇo. Ayaṃ nāmadhātu ekanta<hi rend="bold">rudhādi</hi>gaṇikoti appasiddho.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Divādi</hi>gaṇe <hi rend="bold">tā pālane</hi>. Lokaṃ tāyati santāyati. Imāni sakammakāni suddhakattupadāni. Hetukattupadaṃ pana kammapadañca bhāvapadañca appasiddhāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Sudha saṃsuddhiyaṃ</hi>. Cittaṃ sujjhati visujjhati. Imāni akammakāni suddhakattupadāni. Sodheti, sodhayati, sodhāpeti, sodhāpayati, imāni hetukatturūpāni. Ettha ca yo asuddhaṃ ṭhānaṃ suddhaṃ karoti, so sodhako sodheti, sodhayatīti vuccati, esa nayo aññatrāpi īdisesu ṭhānesu. Yo pana asuddhaṭṭhānaṃ sayaṃ asodhetvā ‘‘tvaṃ sodhehī’’ti aññaṃ payojeti, so sodhāpako sodhāpeti sodhāpayatīti vuccati. Esa nayo aññatrāpi īdisesu ṭhānesu. Tathā hi ‘‘kāreti, kārayati, kārāpeti, kārāpayatī’’tiādīsu ayaṃ nayo na labbhati, evaṃ labbhamānanayo ca alabbhamānanayo ca sabbattha upaparikkhitabbo. Imā panettha pāḷiyo –</p>

Imā hi pāḷiyo sahatthā sodhanaṃ sandhāya vuttā. ‘‘Āyasmā pilindavaccho rājagahe pabbhāraṃ sodhāpeti leṇaṃ kattukāmo’’ti pana pāḷi, ‘‘kiṃ bhante thero kārāpetī’’ti, ‘‘pabbhāraṃ mahārāja sodhāpemi leṇaṃ kattakāmo’’ti ca pāḷi. Imā parehi sodhāpanaṃ sandhāya vuttā. ‘‘Kassa sodhiyati maggo’’ti idaṃ kammapadaṃ, bhāvapadaṃ pana appasiddhaṃ. Iminā nayena yāva <hi rend="bold">curādi</hi>gaṇā yojetabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Dvigaṇikatte subha sobhe</hi>. Sobhati vatāyaṃ puriso. <hi rend="bold">Subha pahāre</hi>. Yo no gāvova sumbhati sumbhoti iccapi dissati. ‘‘Sumbhotī’’ti ca <hi rend="bold">kaccāyanamate</hi> rūpaṃ, imāni kattupadāni. Nagaraṃ sobheti, sobhayati. Puriso purise coraṃ sumbheti, sumbhayati, sumbhāpeti, sumbhāpayati. Imāni hetukattupadāni. Kammabhāvapadāni labbhamānālabbhamānavasena yathāsambhavaṃ yojetabbāni. <hi rend="bold">Bhūvādirudhādi</hi>gaṇikarūpāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Paca pāke</hi>. Puriso bhattaṃ pacati. Nerayiko niraye paccati. Kammaṃ paccati. Bhattaṃ paccati. Pāramiyo paripaccanti. Phalāni paripaccanti, pakkāni hontīti attho. Garavo pana –</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Ñāṇayuttavaraṃ tattha, datvā sandhiṃ tihetukaṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Pacchā paccati pākānaṃ, pavatte aṭṭhake duveti ca –</p>

<p rend="unindented">‘‘Asaṅkhāraṃ sasaṅkhāra-vipākāni na paccatī’’ti ca evaṃ <hi rend="bold">pacati</hi>padassa dvigaṇikarūpassa sakammakattaṃ icchanti. Evaṃ pana sāṭṭhakathe tepiṭake buddhavacane kuto labbhā. Tepiṭake hi buddhavacane ‘‘kappaṃ nirayamhi paccati. Yāva pāpaṃ na paccati. Nirayamhi <pb ed="M" n="0.0383" /> apacci so’’ti evaṃ akammakattaṃyeva dissati. Ettha vadeyyuṃ ‘‘nanu <hi rend="bold">paca pāke’</hi>ti ayaṃ dhātu sakammako, tena ‘paccatī’ti padassa <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>gaṇikarūpassapi sato sakammakattaṃ yujjati, tasmāyeva ‘paccati pākānaṃ pavatte aṭṭhake duve’tiādīsu vutta’’nti. Ettha vuccate – yathā <hi rend="bold">‘‘chidi dvidhākaraṇe, bhidi vidāraṇe’’</hi>ti dhātūnaṃ <hi rend="bold">rudhādi</hi>gaṇe pavattānaṃ ‘‘rukkhaṃ chindati, bhittiṃ bhindatī’’ti rūpapadānaṃ sakammakattepi sati <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>gaṇaṃ pattānaṃ tesaṃ dhātūnaṃ ‘‘udakaṃ chijjati, ghaṭo bhijjatī’’ti rūpapadāni akammakāniyeva bhavanti, yathā <hi rend="bold">bhūvādi</hi>gaṇe pavattassa <hi rend="bold">paca</hi>dhātussa ‘‘bhattaṃ pacatī’’ti rūpapadassa sakammakattepi sati <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>gaṇaṃ pattassa ‘‘niraye paccati, kammāni vipaccantī’’ti rūpapadāni akammakāniyeva bhavanti.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Athāpi vadeyyuṃ ‘‘nanu ca bho yathā ‘āsavehi cittāni vimucciṃsū’ti ettha ‘‘āsavato cittāni vimucciṃsū’ti ca ‘āsavehi kattubhūtehi cittāni vimucciṃsū’ti ca evaṃ <hi rend="bold">divādi</hi>gaṇikassa dhātussa ‘vimucciṃsū’ti rūpapadassa akammakattañca sakammakattañca bhavati, tathā ‘niraye paccati, kammāni vipaccantī’ti ca akammakattenapi bhavitabbaṃ. ‘Paccati pākānaṃ pavatte aṭṭhake duve, asaṅkhāraṃ sasaṅkhāravipākāni na paccatī’ti sakammakattenapi bhavitabba’’nti. Akammakatteneva bhavitabbaṃ, na sakammakattena, ‘‘paccati pākāna’’ntiādinā vuttappayogānaṃ ‘‘āsavehi cittāni vimucciṃsū’’ti payogena asamānattā. Tathā hettha ‘‘vimucciṃsū’’ti padaṃ kammarahitakattuvācaka<hi rend="bold">ya</hi>paccayantampi bhavati kattusahitakammavācaka<hi rend="bold">ya</hi>paccayantampi. ‘‘Vimucciṃsū’’ti imassa hi padassa kammarahita<hi rend="bold">ya</hi>paccayavantattā ‘‘āsavehī’’ti karaṇavacanaṃ apādānakārakavācakaṃ bhavati. ‘Cittānī’’ti paccattavacanaṃ pana kattukārakavācakaṃ bhavati. Tathā ‘‘vimucciṃsū’’ti padassa kattusahitakammavācakattā ‘‘āsavehī’’ti <pb ed="M" n="0.0384" /> karaṇavacanaṃ kattukārakavācakaṃ bhavati. ‘‘Cittānī’’ti paccattavacanaṃ pana kammakārakavācakaṃ bhavati. Ayaṃ nayo ‘‘paccati pākāna’’ntiādinā vuttappayogesu na labbhati. Tathā hi tattha paccattavacanaṃ kattāraṃ vadati, upayogavacanaṃ kammaṃ vadatīti daṭṭhabbaṃ. Kārite ‘‘puriso purisena purisaṃ vā bhattaṃ pāceti pācayati pācāpeti pācāpayatī’’ti ca, ‘‘anante bodhisambhāre, paripācesi nāyako’’ti dassanato pana ‘‘paripāceti, paripācayatī’’ti ca rūpāni bhavanti. Imāni hetukattupadāni. Kamme – yaññadattena odano paccate, bhāvapadaṃ appasiddhaṃ. Imāni <hi rend="bold">bhūvādidivādi</hi>gaṇikarūpāni. Iminā nayena aññānipi dvigaṇikarūpāni yojetabbāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Tegaṇikatte su pasave</hi>. Hetuphalaṃ savati, pasavati. <hi rend="bold">Su savane</hi>. Saddho dhammaṃ suṇoti, suṇāti. <hi rend="bold">Su hiṃsāyaṃ</hi>. Yodho paccāmittaṃ sunāti. Imāni yathākkamaṃ <hi rend="bold">bhūvādisvādikiyādi</hi>gaṇikāni kattupadāni. Tathā hetunā phalaṃ saviyyati, unnādasaddo pathavīundriyasaddo viya suyyati. Yodhena paccamitto suniyyati. Imāni kammapadāni. Bhāvapadaṃ na labbhati sakammakattā imesaṃ dhātūnaṃ. Iminā nayena aññānipi tegaṇikarūpāni upaparikkhitvā yojetabbāni. Atra panāyaṃ nayavibhāvanā –</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Idāni <hi rend="bold">ekakāritadvikāritapadānaṃ</hi> vacanokāso anuppatto, tasmā taṃ vadāma. <hi rend="bold">So antakammani</hi>. Arahattamaggo mānaṃ siyati, kammaṃ pariyosiyati. Imāni tāva suddhakattupadāni. Ettha <hi rend="bold">mānaṃ siyatī</hi>ti mānaṃ samucchindati. <hi rend="bold">Kammaṃ pariyosiyatī</hi>ti kammaṃ nipphajjati. <hi rend="bold">Pari ava</hi> iccupasaggavasena hi idaṃ padaṃ akammakaṃ bhavati, attho pana ‘‘pariyosānaṃ gacchatī’’ti sakammakavasena gahetabbo. Attanā vippakataṃ attanā pariyosāpeti. Ida<hi rend="bold">mekaṃ kāritaṃ</hi> hetukattupadaṃ. Ettha pana <hi rend="bold">pariava</hi> iccupasaggavasena akammakabhūtassa <hi rend="bold">so</hi>dhātussa laddhakāritapaccayattā ekakammameva sakāritapadaṃ bhavati. Attanā vippakataṃ parehi pariyosāvāpeti. Idaṃ <hi rend="bold">dvikāritaṃ</hi> hetukattupadaṃ. Ettha ca pana <hi rend="bold">pari ava</hi> iccupasaggavasena akammakabhūtassa <hi rend="bold">so</hi>dhātussa laddhakāritapaccayadvayattā dvikammakaṃ sakāritapadaṃ bhavati. ‘‘Pariyosāvāpetī’’ti idampi <hi rend="bold">pari ava</hi> pubbasmā <hi rend="bold">so</hi>dhātumhā <hi rend="bold">ṇāpe ṇāpe</hi> iti paccayadvayaṃ katvā <hi rend="bold">ava</hi>sadda<hi rend="bold">sso</hi>kārañca katvā tato <hi rend="bold">ya</hi>kārāgamañca anubandha<hi rend="bold">ṇa</hi>kāralopañca paṭhamapaccaye <hi rend="bold">pa</hi>kārassa <hi rend="bold">va</hi>kārañca dvīsu ca ṭhānesu pubbasaralopaṃ katvā nipphajjatīti daṭṭhabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Idāni tā pāḷiyo atthantaraviññāpanatthaṃ āhaccadesitākārena ekato kathayāma – ‘‘attanā vippakataṃ attanā pariyosāpeti, āpatti saṅghādisesassa. Attanā vippakataṃ parehi pariyosāvāpeti, āpatti saṅghādisesassā’’ti ettha ‘‘bhikkhū’’ti hetukattupadaṃ ānetabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Attanā vippakata</hi>nti ettha ca <hi rend="bold">attanā</hi>ti vippakaraṇakriyāya kattukārakavācakaṃ karaṇavacanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Vippakata</hi>nti kammakārakavācakaṃ <pb ed="M" n="0.0386" /> upayogavacanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Attanā pariyosāpetī</hi>ti ettha pana <hi rend="bold">attanā</hi>ti abyayapadabhūtena <hi rend="bold">sayaṃ</hi>saddena samānatthaṃ vibhatyantapatirūpakaṃ abyayapadaṃ, <hi rend="bold">sayaṃ</hi>saddasadisaṃ vā tatiyāvibhatyantaṃ abyayapadaṃ. Tathā hi ‘‘attanā pariyosāpetī’’ti vuttavacanassa ‘‘sayaṃ pariyosāpetī’’ti attho bhavati ‘‘attanā ca pāṇātipātī’’tiādīsu viya. <hi rend="bold">Parehi pariyosāvāpetī</hi>ti ettha pana <hi rend="bold">parehī</hi>ti kammakārakavācakaṃ karaṇavacananti gahetabbaṃ, ‘‘sunakhehipi khādāpentī’’ti ettha ‘‘sunakhehī’’ti padaṃ viya. Ettha hi yathā ‘‘rājāno coraṃ sunakhe khādāpentī’’ti upayogavasena attho bhavati, tathā ‘‘bhikkhu attanā vippakataṃ pare jane pariyosāvāpetī’’ti upayogavasena attho bhavati. Evaṃ imasmiṃ acchariyabbhutanayavicitte bhagavato pāvacane dvikāritapaccayavantampi padamatthīti sārato paccetabbaṃ. Ayaṃ nayo sukhumo sāsane ādaraṃ katvā āyasmantehi sādhukaṃ manasi kātabbo. Yassa hi atthāya idaṃ pakaraṇaṃ karimha, na ayaṃ attano mati, atha kho pubbācariyānaṃ santikā laddhattā tesaññeva matīti daṭṭhabbaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Idāni <hi rend="bold">akāritadvikammikapadānaṃ</hi> vacanokāso anuppatto, tasmā tāni kathayāma, tāni ca kho dhātuvasena evaṃ veditabbāni savinicchayāni. Seyyathidaṃ?</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Duhikaravahipucchi, yāci bhikkhi ca nibrūti;</hi></p>

<p rend="gathalast"><hi rend="bold">Bhaṇivadivacibhāsi, sāsidahināthadhātu</hi>.</p>

<p rend="gatha1"><hi rend="bold">Rudhi ji ci</hi>pabhutīti, ye te dvikammakā dhīrā;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Pavadumapi viyuttā, kāritappaccayehi ca.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Apādānādike pubba-vidhimhā sahime’bravuṃ;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Upayogavacanassa, nimittanti sanantanā.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Ete <pb ed="M" n="0.0387" /><hi rend="bold">duhā</hi>dayo dhātū, tikammāpi bhavanti tu;</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Kāritappaccaye laddhe, iti ācariyā’bravuṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Tatrimāni udāharaṇāni – gavaṃ payo duhati gopālako. Gāviṃ khīraṃ duhati gopāladārako. Tattha <hi rend="bold">payo</hi>ti upayogavacanaṃ, ‘‘yaso laddhā na majjeyyā’’ti ettha ‘‘yaso’’ti padamiva. Manogaṇikassa hi īdisampi upayogavacanaṃ hoti aññādisampi. Issaro gopālaṃ gavaṃ payo duhāpeti. Gopālena gāvo khīraṃ duhitā. Gohi payo duhatīti ettha apādānavisayattā dvikammakabhāvo natthi. ‘‘Visāṇato gavaṃ duhaṃ, yattha khīraṃ na vindatī’’ti ettha pana apādānavisayattepi gavāvayavabhūtassa visāṇassa visuṃ gahitattā ‘‘gavaṃ khīraṃ duhanto’’ti dvikammikabhāvo labbhatīti daṭṭhabbaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Duhino</hi> payogoyaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Karoti</hi>ssa payoge kaṭṭhamaṅgāraṃ karoti, suvaṇṇaṃ kaṭakaṃ karoti, sace je saccaṃ bhaṇasi, adāsiṃ taṃ karomi. Ettha ca <hi rend="bold">aṅgāraṃ karotī</hi>ti pariccattakāraṇavasena vuttaṃ. Kaṭṭhañhi aṅgārabhāvassa kāraṇaṃ, aṅgāre kate kāraṇabhūtassa kaṭṭhassa kaṭṭhabhāvo vigacchati. <hi rend="bold">Kaṭakaṃ karotī</hi>ti idaṃ apariccattakāraṇavasena vuttaṃ. Suvaṇṇañhi kaṭakabhāvassa kāraṇaṃ, kaṭake katepi kārakabhūtassa suvaṇṇassa suvaṇṇabhāvo na vigacchati, atha kho visesantaruppattibhāvena sampajjati. <hi rend="bold">Adāsiṃ taṃ karomī</hi>ti idaṃ pana ṭhānantaradānavasena vuttaṃ ‘‘uparājaṃ mahārājaṃ karomī’’ti ettha viya. Tattha ‘‘issaro purisena purisaṃ vā kaṭṭhamaṅgāraṃ kāreti. Tathā suvaṇṇaṃ kaṭakaṃ kāretī’’ti tikammikappayogopi daṭṭhabbo. Tathā ‘‘brahmadatto rajjaṃ kāretī’’ti, ‘‘brahmadatte rajjaṃ kārente’’ti dvikammakappayogo.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ettheke <pb ed="M" n="0.0388" /> vadeyyuṃ ‘‘nanu ca bho ettha ekameva kammaṃ dissati, kenāyaṃ payogo dvikammikappayogo hotī’’ti. Kiñcāpi ekameva dissati, tathāpi atthato dveyeva kammāni dissantīti gahetabbaṃ. Tathā hi <hi rend="bold">brahmadatto rajjaṃ kāretī</hi>ti ettha brahmadatto attano rājabhāvaṃ mahājanena kārayatīti attho. Evaṃ pana atthe gahite ‘‘rajjaṃ kārehi bhaddante, kiṃ araññe karissasī’’tiādīsupi tvaṃ attano rājabhāvaṃ amhehi kārāpehi, attānaṃ rajje abhisiñcāpehi, mayaṃ taṃ rajje abhisiñcitukāmāti attho samatthito bhavati.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Brahmadatte rajjaṃ kārente</hi>ti etthāpi brahmadatte attano rājabhāvaṃ mahājanena kārayanteti attho bhavati. Sāsanasmiñhi kāritavisaye karaṇavacanaṃ upayogatthaññeva dīpeti, tasmā atthato dveyeva kammani dissantīti vadāma. Ayamattho <hi rend="bold">abhidhammaṭīkāyaṃ</hi> cakkhundriyādinibbacanatthavibhāvanāya dīpetabbo. Tathā hi <hi rend="bold">abhidhammaṭīkāyaṃ</hi> idaṃ vuttaṃ <hi rend="bold">‘‘cakkhudvāre indattaṃ kāretī</hi>ti cakkhudvārabhāve taṃdvārikehi attano indabhāvaṃ paramissarabhāvaṃ kārayatīti attho. Tañhi te rūpaggahaṇe attānaṃ anuvatteti, te ca taṃ anuvattantī’’ti. Yadi pana <hi rend="bold">kara</hi>dhātu dvikammako, evaṃ sante ‘‘brahmadatto rajjaṃ kāretī’’tiādīsu laddhakāritapaccayattā ‘‘kāretī’’tiādīhi padehi tikammakehiyeva bhavitabbanti? Na, niyamābhāvato, tādisassa ca payogassa vohārapathe anāgatattā.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Kaṭṭhaṃ purisena aṅgāraṃ kataṃ. Suvaṇṇaṃ kammārena kaṭakaṃ kataṃ, dāsī sāmikena adāsiṃ katā, evampettha dvikammakappayogā veditabbā. <hi rend="bold">Suvaṇṇena kaṭakaṃ karotī</hi>ti ettha <pb ed="M" n="0.0389" /> hi visesanatthe pavattakaraṇavisayattā dvikammikabhāvo na labbhatīti daṭṭhabbaṃ. Ayaṃ nayo aññatrāpi upaparikkhitvā yathāsambhavaṃ netabbo. <hi rend="bold">Karoti</hi>ssa payogoyaṃ.</p>

<p rend="bodytext"><hi rend="bold">Vahi</hi>ādīnaṃ payoge rājapurisā rathaṃ gāmaṃ vahanti. Ayaṃ rājā maṃ nāmaṃ pucchati. Parābhavantaṃ purisaṃ, mayaṃ pucchāma gotamaṃ. Āyasmā upāli āyasmatā mahākassapena vinayaṃ puṭṭho. Devadatto rājānaṃ kambalaṃ yācati. Te maṃ asse ayācisuṃ. Dhanaṃ taṃ tāta yācati. Brāhmaṇo nāgaṃ maṇiṃ yācati. Nāgo maṇiṃ yācito brāhmaṇena brahmunā āyācito dhammadesanaṃ bhagavā. Tāpaso kulaṃ bhojanaṃ bhikkhati. Ajaṃ gāmaṃ neti. Ajo gāmaṃ nīto. Mutto campeyyako nāgo, rājānaṃ etadabravi.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ettha <hi rend="bold">rājāna</hi>nti mukhyato kammaṃ vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Eta</hi>nti guṇato. Tathā <hi rend="bold">rājāna</hi>nti akathitakammaṃ vuttaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Eta</hi>nti kathitakammaṃ. Esa nayo aññatrāpi upaparikkhitvā yathārahaṃ yojetabbo. Evameva ‘‘brūhi bhagavā’’tiādīsu sampadānavisayattā dvikammakabhāvo na labbhati. Bhikkhu mahārājānaṃ dhammaṃ bhaṇati. Yaṃ maṃ bhaṇasi sārathi. Yaṃ maṃ vadati. Bhagavantaṃ etadavoca. Pitā puttaṃ bhāsati. Yaṃ maṃ tvaṃ anusāsasi. Sakyā kho pana ambaṭṭha rājānaṃ okkākaṃ pitāmahaṃ dahanti. Bhagavā bhikkhū taṃ taṃ hitapaṭipattiṃ nāthati. Gāvo vajaṃ rundhati gopālako. Dhutto dhuttajanaṃ dhanaṃ jināti. Ettha ca ‘‘kamanuttaraṃ ratnavaraṃ jināmā’’ti <hi rend="bold">puṇṇakajātakapāḷi</hi> nidassanaṃ. Tatthāyamattho ‘‘mayaṃ janindā kataraṃ rājānaṃ anuttaraṃ ratnavaraṃ jināmā’’ti. Iṭṭhakāyo pākāraṃ cinoti vaḍḍhakī. Aññānipi yojetabbāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Ettha <pb ed="M" n="0.0390" /> keci puccheyyuṃ ‘‘gandhakuṭiṃ padakkhiṇaṃ karoti, buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmi. Upāsakaṃ maṃ bhavaṃ gotamo dhāretū’ti payogesu kiṃ dvikammakabhāvo labbhatī’’ti? Ettha vuccate – ‘‘gandhakuṭiṃ padakkhiṇaṃ karotī’’ti ettha na labbhati guṇaguṇīnaṃ vasena gahitattā. ‘‘Buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmī’’ti etthāpi na labbhati ‘‘saraṇaṃ iti gacchāmī’’ti <hi rend="bold">iti</hi>saddalopavasena vuttattā. Tathā hi <hi rend="bold">buddha</hi>nti upayogavacanaṃ. <hi rend="bold">Saraṇa</hi>nti paccattavacanaṃ. ‘‘Buddhaṃ mama saraṇaṃ parāyaṇaṃ, aghassa tātā hitassa ca vidhātā’’ti iminā adhippāyena ‘‘bhajāmi sevāmi bujjhāmī’’ti attho. ‘‘Upāsakaṃ maṃ bhavaṃ gotamo dhāretū’’ti ettha pana dvikammakabhāvo labbhatīti vattabbo ‘‘maṃ ito paṭṭhāya upāsakaṃ dhāretū’’ti atthasambhavato ‘‘sakyā kho pana ambaṭṭha rājānaṃ okkākaṃ pitāmahaṃ dahantī’’ti <hi rend="bold">daha</hi>dhātuppayogena samānattā ca, adhippāyatthato pana ‘‘maṃ ‘upāsako me aya’nti dhāretū’’ti attho sambhavatīti daṭṭhabbaṃ. Evaṃ akāritāni dvikammikadhāturūpāni vibhāvitāni.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Iccevamamhehi ādito paṭṭhāya bhagavato sāsanatthaṃ yathāsatti yathābalaṃ dhātuyo ca taṃrūpāni ca tadanurūpehi nānāpadehi nānāatthehi nānānayehi ca yojetvā vibhāvitāni, evaṃ vibhāventehipi amhehi tāsaṃ sarūpaparicchedo atthaparicchedo vā na sakkā sabbaso vattuṃ. Tadubhayañhi ko sabbaso vattuṃ sakkhissati aññatra āgamādhigamasampannehi pabhinnapaṭisambhidehi mahākhīṇāsavehi.</p>

<p rend="bodytext">Atthātisayayuttāpi, dhātū honti yato tato. Payogatonugantabbā, anekatthā hi dhātavo.</p>

<p rend="gatha1">Yenekatthadharā <pb ed="M" n="0.0391" /> caranti vividhā nāthassa pāṭhe vare,</p>

<p rend="gatha2">Tenekatthadharāva honti sahitā nānūpasaggehive;</p>

<p rend="gatha3">Dhātūnaṃ pana tesamatthaparamaṃ khīṇāsave paṇḍite,</p>

<p rend="gathalast">Vajjetvā paṭisambhidāmatiyute ko sabbaso bhaṇatīti.</p>

<p rend="centre">Iti navaṅge sāṭṭhakathe piṭakattaye byappathagatīsu viññūnaṃ</p>
